Synchrotron - Self Compton Spectral Evolution of PKS 2155 - 304

چکیده
The high frequency peaked blazar PKS 2155-304 is one of the brightest and most intensively studied prototype of BL Lac objects. Gamma-rays from PKS 2155-304 have been detected from the MeV to TeV ranges. We computed a synchrotron self-Compton (SSC) model, based on the temporal behavior of the particles distribution, responsible for the high-energy emission. Using the available simultaneous multi-wavelength data, we simulated the overall spectral energy distribution (SED) and the spectral variability of this source.

Spectral Evolution of PKS 2155 - 304 observed with BeppoSAX during an Active Gamma - ray Phase
We present the results of BeppoSAX observations of PKS 2155–304 during an intense γ–ray flare. The source was in a high X–ray state. A temporal analysis of the data reveals a tendency of the amplitude of variations to increase with energy, and the presence of a soft lag with a timescale of the order 10 3 s. A curved continuum spectrum, with no evidence of spectral features, extends up to ∼ 50 k...
متن کاملPROGRESS IN UNDERSTANDING BLAZARS FROM BeppoSAX OB- SERVATIONS
Results obtained with BeppoSAX observations of blazars within various collaborative programs are presented. The spectral similarity “paradigm”, whereby the spectral energy distributions of blazars follow a sequence, leading to a unified view of the whole population, is briefly illustrated. We concentrate on recent observations of flares and associated spectral variability long for three objects...
متن کاملISO observations of the BL Lac object PKS 2155 – 304 ⋆
The BL Lacertae object PKS 2155–304 was observed by the Infrared Space Observatory in May and June 1996, during a multiwavelength campaign. These are the first observations in the mid– and far–infrared bands since IRAS. In the observing period, the source showed no detectable time variability at 4.0, 14.3, 60 and 90 μm. The spectrum from 2.8 to 100 μm is well fitted by a single power law with e...
متن کاملAn inhomogeneous jet model for the rapid variability of TeV blazars
We present a new time-dependent inhomogeneous jet model of non-thermal blazar emission, which reproduces the entire spectral energy distribution together with the rapid gamma-ray variability. Ultra-relativistic leptons are injected at the base of a jet and propagate along the jet structure. We assume continuous reacceleration and cooling, producing a relativistic quasi-maxwellian (or ”pile-up”)...
متن کاملConstraints on the Physical Parameters of TeV Blazars
We consider the constraints that can be derived from the spectral shape and variability of TeV blazars on the homogeneous synchrotron self–Compton (SSC) model. Assuming that the relativistic electron spectrum is a broken power law, where the break energy is a free parameter, we write analytical formulae that allow to connect observable quantities to the physical parameters of the model. We give ...
